I'm Getting a Divorce. Which Service Should I Choose?

You've decided to get some help with your divorce because you recognize that, apart from it being a "time suck" and an emotional drain, divorce is complex and has significant implications. Going at it alone feels overwhelming and a bit risky. That said, you don't want to spend anywhere close to the average cost of divorce – $26,300. Yikes! You also want to work toward an agreement. Maybe you're ready to rock and need some help from one of our account coordinators.

Regardless of where you're at, you likely want to get through this without a messy court battle.

Now what?

Hello Divorce options

Hello Divorce offers several options depending on your budget, wants, and needs. And we have expert financial, legal, and mediation help available at an affordable flat rate if you need it. It's your team, and we can handle almost any kind of divorce except for the ones that fight it out in court.

Think of it as a custom divorce. How much of the process do you want to do yourself, and how much do you want to pass off to a professional? What (if anything) is your biggest financial or parenting concern? You choose what you need.

Our team is ready to help, but they aren't the center of the case. You are. Just remember: Divorce is a legal process. It doesn't happen overnight. It happens one step at a time, and we can cover you as you take those steps. Now, let's look at your options. We have a video below that also explains our plans.

DIY Divorce

Follow our all-in-one web app, the Divorce Navigator, to conveniently handle your own divorce from start to finish. This is our DIY Divorce program. You can easily complete all your divorce forms by using our software. Follow instructions in the Divorce Navigator to file and serve (deliver) your forms.

Cost: $99 flat fee or 6 payments of $20

  • Cooperative or "friendly" divorce*
  • Low assets
  • No kids
  • You're self-motivated and comfortable moving at your own pace

With our Pro plan, you use our Divorce Navigator to easily prepare your forms. An experienced account coordinator takes it from there, processing, filing, and serving all of your paperwork with the court.

Cost: $1,500 flat fee or 6 payments of $275

  • You want to get started on your divorce now
  • You want us to file and serve for you
  • You are confident you and your spouse will come to an agreement by the end of the process
  • Low to medium-sized "estate" (assets)
  • You're comfortable moving at your own pace
  • Only need help with one spouse's paperwork (but you may add your spouse's for select steps/paperwork at an affordable flat rate)

With our Plus plan, an experienced account coordinator guides you and your spouse through your divorce from start to finish using our proprietary Divorce Navigator software. They review all forms with you, revise them as necessary, and handle all the procedural stuff (like coordinating service with your spouse and filing documents). They also send you personalized resources on any issues you are struggling to agree on (e.g., how to calculate spousal support using our personal property division spreadsheet, deciding whether you need a QDRO to divide your retirement accounts).

Cost: $2,500 or 6 payments of $500

  • Cooperative, negotiated, or mediated divorce*
  • You want someone experienced with the divorce process to handle your divorce for you
  • You don't have any complicated legal issues
  • You want someone to communicate directly with your spouse on your behalf
  • Both you and your spouse are covered in this plan

Cooperative Divorce

An experienced mediator will guide you and your spouse through your divorce from start to finish in our Cooperative Divorce plan. They facilitate agreements on all issues including shared parenting, post-divorce finances, and division of assets and debts. This service includes everything from Divorce Plus along with five hours of mediator services at a discount to help create your agreement.

Cost: Flat fee of $3,800

  • Complicated financial or interpersonal issues
  • You want someone experienced with the divorce process to handle your divorce for you
  • You want to avoid "lawyering up" but need help agreeing on key issues
  • You both want to avoid court
  • You want to wrap this up as quickly as possible while protecting your interests
