Crush Your Post-Divorce Goals With These Helpful Tools

When it’s all over, it’s going to hit you like a ton of bricks: Your divorce has been finalized. The process sapped so much energy and surfaced so many emotions. But finally, it’s done.
My sincere hope is that you never have to ask yourself that question. The most centered, happy, and confident people I’ve worked with shared one thing in common: They planned ahead to set themselves up for success post-divorce. And, it’s not as difficult as you might think.
Visualizing what your life will look like after divorce helps you focus on the bigger picture. The stronger your vision of life post-divorce, the easier it will be to turn the page and start your next chapter.
Setting a goal or two can strengthen that vision. We think you can crush your goals with the help of these three tools.
Create a vision board
Grab a stack of old magazines, some scissors, and some glue, and get your creativity flowing! Maybe you want to redesign the house after the divorce is final. Create a board full of images of bedding, artwork, and furniture that you love so you can “see” what you’ll design. Maybe you want to take a trip or explore new hobbies. Clip pictures of the places you want to visit or the activities you want to pursue when your divorce finalizes. Seeing is believing. By reminding yourself visually of the possibilities ahead, you keep your eyes on the prize.
Meet with a life coach
You might have dozens of goals and plans for life post-divorce, but sometimes, it's hard to know where to start. A life coach can be a terrific resource. Their job is to help you focus on the future, to distill goals you truly want to achieve and to help you create a roadmap to get there.
